Winter 2009No, the drought has not really broken yet in south eastern Australia but it isn't that bad here at the farm! This a gibber plain on the Birdsville Track in Central Australia (about 1,600 km from the farm). The nearest town (hamlet?) is Marree and the next one on this road is another 200 km. We took a little trip to see water in Lake Eyre, which is normally a salt flat that fills with water only every 10 to 20 years. It was partially full from heavy rainfall in the previous summer wet season in far northern Australia. It is something of a contrast from conditions at our farm.
