End of Autumn 2011

We are still luxuriating in paddocks with plenty of grass and clover. We have not needed to feed out at all yet. (In previous years, we have had to supplement the feed for the cattle as early as December in mid Summer.)   

The ground is still very soft. A few years ago, it would have been quite a effort to dig a trench in a paddock at this time of year (it is usually a Winter job!) but I had no trouble in manually digging out several metres of trench. It is moist as far down as I dug (and probably a lot further than that). 

The cattle are fat and happy and the walnut trees have lost most of their leaves.

Winter starts officially in a few weeks.
